New Officials courses to be held at Gingin
Training & Assessments for NEW OFFICIALS:
Marker & Measurer OR National Umpire
Saturday/Sunday September 3 & 4, 2022
at Gingin Bowling Club
Applications are invited for NEW OFFICIALS to attend a Training and Assessment course.
Attendance is required at each relevant session with each session expected to take approximately 4 hours. Some additional time may be taken up with discussions around Health and Safety, ongoing learning as a new umpire and to complete end of course interviews/assessment feedback.
Saturday – Sessions 1 & 2 – Marker & Measurer: 8.30am to 5.00pm
Marker: This session will consist of on-green and classroom training.
Measurer: This session consists of how to use measuring instruments on-green and the applicants demonstrating their competency with those instruments. It also includes some classroom learning of the Laws pertaining to measuring.
Sunday – Session 3 – National Umpire: 9.00am to 2.00pm
This session consists of classroom learning of the Laws of The Sport of Bowls. (To become a National Umpire you must attend and accredit at all three sessions.) Assessment includes tests, demonstration of your on-green skills and your participation in the classroom training.

Please note: These courses includes measuring and candidates will be assessed on their physical ability to use measuring equipment that requires a steady hand and bending down to work at ground level.
Applications and fees for either of MARKER & MEASURER COURSE ($44) or NATIONAL UMPIRE COURSE ($55) must be received at Bowls WA by 17th August, 2022

Please note:
All applicants will be sent the latest Officiating Manual for Markers, Measurers & Umpires, which they must bring to all sessions. It is advisable that, prior to attending, applicants peruse the relevant chapters in the Manual.
All applicants are required to bring their own Laws of The Sport of Bowls, Crystal Mark Edition, v 3.2 May 2021. (Law books can be ordered and paid for with the application and will be posted with the Officiating Manual.)
Dress will be mufti (casual/sportwear) with approved bowls footwear; please supply your own lunch.
